Um dos últimos e surpreendentes Espaghetti Western muito bem realizado por Paolo Cavara, um grande diretor e mestre do Terror e Suspense Europeu da década de 60.

Com elenco interessante e com a presença de atores alemães e espanhóis focalizando o ano de 1836 na fronteira Mexicana com os Estados Unidos.
Acabou a Guerra com o México e nasce a nova república do Texas.

O Presidente Houston está trabalhando para conseguir a união da nova República dos Estados Unidos da América e as forças rebeldes ajudadas por estrangeiros estão tramando contra ele.

O Presidente Houston vem organizando as forças do Texas e envia o seu fiel escudeiro Erastus Deaf [surdo] Smith (Anthony Quinn) e seu companheiro Johnny [Juanito – ouvidos] Ears (Franco Nero), veteranos da Guerra da Secessão para derrubarem os conspiradores e tentarem resolver o problema, mas encontram uma fronteira ardendo em violência.

Acabam envolvendo-se também com as prostitutas do local, bandidos de toda a espécie, tráfico de armas e abuso de poder.
É curioso ver Franco Nero Atirando pedrinhas no chapéu do surdo “Quiin” o tempo todo para que ele tenha a sua atenção.

O filme só ganha rítmo mesmo depois de uma hora e a dinamite passa ser o remédio para eles resolverem todos os problemas com o impasse na fronteira.
O que chama a atenção mesmo são os disparos da super metralhadora que conseguem se apoderar.

Muita ação, violência e suspense, tudo muito bem fotografado pelo virtuoso Tonino Delli Colli.
Ao final Franco Nero repete o seu grito em imagem congelada como em “Companheiros Vamos a Matar”, só que aqui é “Erestus” percebendo que ele o abandonara no deserto com a bela prostituta Susie.
